Our first disability home extension and conversion project. It made a real impression on the Freedom team and the way we work with clients.

Project Description
Following a major car accident, our client’s life was significantly altered due to severe injury and brain trauma. Our aim was to adapt and remodel an existing property to enable them to live at home with greater independence. The outcome was a bespoke disability home extension and conversion to meet all their needs.
Meeting the Design Brief
The clients successfully purchased their desired bungalow before we set about extending and adapting it to suit their needs.
Structural work involved redesign and remodelling of the internal walls. This created more accessible spaces and improved mobility throughout the property.
Doorways were widened and the kitchen adapted to provide accessible low level countertops. Other features included an adapted wet room adjoining the new bedroom, installion of a hydrotherapy bath and creation of a dedicated carers area.
Externally we made alterations to amend ground levels and install wheel-chair accessible ramps to the entrance. The rear garden was regraded to allow installation of low maintenance astroturf and an accessible patio area.
